Moab, UT. -  The Sorrel River Ranch Resort recently added a portable mixing, playback, and speaker processing system to their facilities.  The custom designed rack provides easy connection to the current speaker systems used at the ranch and allows playback of recorded material from CD or cassette and a live sound reinforcement platform for entertainers. 

A Raxxess Converta Rack provides a 10 space top section and another 10-space equipment section for portable sound applications.  The top section of the rack holds a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro mixing console and RackRider power-conditioning unit on a pop-up frame that may be set to multiple angles for operator comfort. 

The system is designed to operate two speaker systems at the Ranch one that is single-amped and a second bi-amplified system.  To accommodate both speaker systems a custom Whirlwind panel was designed by WSPA that provides either a single amp speaker output or by the flip of a switch, bi-amped connections that are routed through a Rane AC-22 crossover.

The panel includes a patch from the main mixer output to either the Rane crossover or to the amplifiers directly.  The selection switch then returns speaker outputs from

the amplifiers to the speakon connectors in either bi-amp or single amp mode allowing each speaker system to use the portable rack. 

Power for the speaker systems is provided by Crown CTs1200’s, which were selected to best match power output with the speaker systems power handling capabilities.  The flexible panel design allows for a single pair of biamplified speakers to be connected to the system or for two-pair of single amped speakers via the same panel connectors. 

Recorded programs from compact disc may be played through the system with the Marantz PMD-370 5-disc changer.  The Marantz professional CD player is ideal for continuous background music applications and comes with a 3-year manufacturer warranty. 

Latching lids for both equipment sections on the Raxxess Converta Rack protects all the components during transport or storage.  Heavy-duty casters installed at WSPA’s Montrose shop make transport effortless.  All systems were installed and tested at our shop prior to delivery to Sorrel as a turnkey system ready for use.
